Changes to train lengths

February 2018

Changes to train lengths

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been monitoring the level of demand on our services, reviewing the number of passengers on each train to ensure that we’re providing the best possible service for the majority of our passengers.

From 26 February we’re increasing the length of some of the busiest trains, taking into account changes to travel patterns. These longer trains are created by taking carriages from a smaller number of less busy trains. All of our available trains are in service during peak times.

We hope that the changes we’re making, maximising the benefits of the 68 additional carriages that we added to our fleet from September, will mean that journeys on the busiest trains are more comfortable.

Lengthened trains

  • 07.11 Hayes to Charing Cross (10 carriages instead of 8)  (+2)
  • 06.50 Gravesend to Charing Cross via Sidcup (10 carriages instead of 8)  (+2)
