Travel by train to London's South Bank to find a mix of art, theatre, film and attractions that offer a great day out for visitors
Trains to the South Bank
With attractions like the London Eye, the SEA LIFE London Aquarium, plus top class acting at the National Theatre, concerts at the Royal Festival Hall, movies at the National Film Theatre and the dread of the London Dungeon, there's something for everyone on the South Bank.
Getting here: Take a Southeastern train to Waterloo East and it’s just 5-10 minutes’ walk away. Or step out at Charing Cross, then it's just a 10-minute walk across the Golden Jubilee Bridge - there's lift access if you need it.
Fun things to do...
This summer, Southbank Centre is the place to be. From July to August, there's dance and performance from an eclectic mix of national and international companies. Outside, we host six themed weekends of fun, a beach, roof garden, fountain, outdoor music stage, food pop-ups and art installations.
SEA LIFE London Aquarium
With 17 themed zones and over 600 species of marine life, SEA LIFE London Aquarium will take you on a fascinating journey from the coastline to the depths of the ocean. You can study seven species of shark in the Shark Reef Encounter and spot Cuban crocodiles and poison dart frogs.
The London Dungeon
Cower from some of the grisly bits of history that you might prefer to forget. Listen to the stories told by frighteningly funny characters, from torturers and judges to local legends, on a thrill-filled journey through London's past. It's fun and sometimes a bit scary – so best for kids over 12. The London Dungeon is now on the South Bank.
Bringing the best in live circus, comedy, cabaret and family entertainment to the heart of London. It's everything that Underbelly Festival and London Wonderground were... and more. There is an amazing line-up of shows in an amazing city-centre, pop-up festival world. You can enjoy international street food, after work drinks in one of London's largest outdoor bars and a true festival atmosphere on the banks of the Thames.
